Despite of the many negative reviews on the appstore I would be interested in this app (with the german maps) ... if this app has the features I'm looking for. And unfortunately I can't find any detailed information that answers my question.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for an app to plan my routes at home, sitting on the sofa, using my ipad. So I'd like to use my fingers to add waypoints to a route, and in the end look at e.g. a height profile, download a gpx to put on my gps device, ...
Is it possible using the iMap software ?
Michael, the feature you request will be in the next version of Fugawi iMap (the ability to create routes by tapping on the map, then export the route as a GPX file). Please check back here in the future to ensure the feature has been added before you purchase.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI have a few feature requests.
1. Distance and bearing from current position to any position on the map.
-I want to be able to just touch a point on the map, and see distance and bearing from my current position, since the scale on the map is rather small and asserting distance from it is unprecise.
It would also be nice to be able to see distance between different way points.
2. Waypoint info on click. When I click (touch) a waypoint, and the cross hair comes up, I would like an option to see info about the way point. (like name, coordinates, height, and any notes)
3. Name of waypoints on map.
It would be nice with an option to turn on (show) names of waypoints on the map. Could be done in settings for example.
Kind regards,
David
David,
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions!
1. Distance/bearing between points will be in next release.
2. When the cross hair pops up (on tap-and hold), click the "i" in the lower left of the crosshair to view/edit the full waypoint information.
3. Waypoint names will be shown on the map in the next release.
I read that imap allows you to download maps for offline use. Does it also cache google sat maps?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Unfortunately no, the Google Maps are not cached. You require internet connection in order to use the Googel Maps.
ReplyDeleteI need an app that is more flexible, ie coordinates in DMS as well.. Vector maps or the ability to import vector maps so that I can have a large area for offline use on my iPad.. will Fugawi be incorporating these features?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Thank you for your feedback. We continue to develop Fugawi iMap. D M and D M S will be in the next release.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteIm just curious, is it possible to get the iMap without the maps? I already have purchased the swedish terrainmaps and all I need is an app to open them with - they are in .rik format, is this possible?
@Ruins of Sweden,
ReplyDeleteNo, this is not possible, the maps are integrated into the App.
The description mentions the high degree of integration with Fugawi Global Navigator. I understand this to mean waypoints, tracks, etc. Is there a facility to transfer a user scanned and calibrated map from Navigator to the iPhone, or a plan to do so?
ReplyDeleteDave
@Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteCurrently only waypoint and track transfer (bi-directional) is supported. We may add support to transfer user scanned maps in the future.
Is there a way to see what part of the map has already been cached on my ipad? I'd like to cache a large area of British Columbia topography, but I can't see an easy way to do this. I know I've cached portions of B.C., but I can't see a way of telling what I've already cached. Am I missing something?
ReplyDelete@Gary, This is not a feature at this time.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in this app for professional use. 1. Am I correct in believing that I can save a number of portions with a radius of 50 miles each on my I iPhone, then go offline and use these maps in the field? 2. How many areas (with a 50 mile radius) can I save in the cache? 3. Does the memory empty if I switch off my iPhone or lose battery power? 4. Are you going to include the possibility to import shapefiles and view them layered on the maps in the iPhone?
ReplyDelete@Johan, You can save as many map portions as you want on the iPhone, dependednt only on the available memory of the iPhone itself. The maps are not lost when the phone powers down or runs out of battery. Shape files are something we are looking at implementing in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi, purchased imap via itunes with svealand map. I tried to create a x-travese free account but it seems to be inactivated and i am not able to activate it- How to solve that?
ReplyDelete//Ingemar
I'have bought iMap swedish topo4 map. How do I download maps for offline use. When I log in to my account on X-traverse I get the message that my account has expired!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous and @Roffe,
ReplyDeletePlease email support@x-traverse.com with a copy of this blog post. Your accounts will be fixed. We have identified a small error in the back end and are working now to fix it.
The account creation error has been fixed.
ReplyDeleteI think my previous comment failed somehow...
ReplyDeleteWell, I just want to know if I can purchase only the iMap software, I am already in possession of the maps that I want but I need the software in order to use them on my iPhone, but I am not interrested in buying the maps all over again naturally...
@Ruins of Sweden, Unfortunately no. The maps and application are bundled as a single product.
ReplyDeleteWhen will there be an update for iOS 5? Soon, please! This is one of my most important apps, and I'm afraid of problems so am putting off updating to iOS.
ReplyDelete@ Rachel, Fugawi iMap is supported by iOS 5.
ReplyDeleteHi, how do I Switch to the winter map, Fjällkartan, in the Swedish version? I have bought it just to be able to go skiing on the mountains in Sweden, but I can only see the summer version of the maps...
ReplyDeleteThe only Fjällkartan that exists is the version where there is not snow on the ground. A version with seasonal changes does not exist.
ReplyDeleteThe winter "information" lika skilifts, sowmobile roads etc is on the map. (But the snow is not shown.)\
