Did you know? The Power of Waypoints!

1. Editing Waypoints.
Fugawi iMap has a very simple way of creating and editing waypoints. Simply tap and hold anywhere on the map to create a waypoint. Tap the "+" to create a waypoint. Tap the "i” to edit the waypoint symbol, description, or precise location. Drag the waypoint tool crosshairs over an existing waypoint to delete it with the "-", or to drag the waypoint to a new location.

2. Transferring Waypoints.
You can export your waypoints simply by creating a free X-Traverse account for use with your Fugawi iMap app. From within the iMap app, select Settings|X-Traverse Account|Create X-Traverse Account. Now you can send waypoints to your x-traverse online account using My Library|X-Traverse exchange. Waypoints are sent as a GPX file. Log in to www.x-traverse.com to download the GPX file for use in any other program. You can also upload GPX files using the same procedure.

3. Photo Waypoints.
New to version 1.2 and later, Fugawi iMap now allows you to easily snap a photo waypoint using the iPhone camera or by selecting an existing photo from your photo library. Export all waypoints (and included photos) as a KMZ file for use in Google Earth or other KMZ supporting software. Or...with one simple tap, send your photo waypoint to your Facebook account where it will be posted on an interactive map to share with your friends. Click here for more details.

4. Using Fugawi PC Software.
Both Fugawi Global Navigator and Fugawi Marine ENC software can be used to plot waypoints on your PC for transfer to Fugawi iMap on your iPhone. Best of all Fugawi software comes with a free 1-year subscription to either USA or Canada topo maps, so you can use the exact same mapping on your PC to plan your outdoor adventure, then upload the waypoints to your iPhone.

  1. Today there is a few symbols for waypoints i iMap. Some bullets, a cross, a square and a fish. Is there any chance there will be more symbols i the future? I would like to have a plant (for my botanical excursions), and a bird for my birdwatching excursions.

  2. Yes, we plan on adding more icons. And allowing icon matching with an exported or imported waypoint file.

  3. Selecting Waypoints, for editing or deleting, with the Waypoint tool is very intermittent. When the Waypoint tool is brought up and precisely placed over an existing waypoint it will sometimes select the waypint, indicated by bring up the 4 blue arrows, but majority of the time it will not select the waypoint. Are there any settings that can be adjusted to make selection of waypoint more consistent? Is there an alternate method of selecting waypoints for editing or deletion?

  4. We are aware that selecting the waypoint via the waypoint tool is sometimes intermittent. This will be corrected in the next update.
